I know I've been going a bit YMO crazy here but I just had to share another. I know this was part of the Yen Box set but I don't know how rare this is in Japan, but it's certainly very hard to find on the internet. I recently found this on a rapidshare search engine by chance, the filename was just YT, so I thought it was just one of his albums called "Mr Y.T." which I've read it's not one of his best albums. But to my surprise, it was this little gem.

It's a collection of rarities such as the original version of "Are you receiving me?" which I didn't even know existed, since I thought the remix on my version of "Tomorrow's just another day" was wrongly tagged. And live versions of songs and even has a live version of Hosono's Sports men, and YMO's key from one of his solo tours, since Hosono was a band member of his he sings them with the man himself. I can't credit the original uploader since there was no source. Don't let the artwork put you off and download this!

Electronic/glitch album from 2/3 of YMO, though Ryuichi Sakamoto does collaborate on some tracks so you could call it half a YMO album, it's quite different in sound, it's definitely for the most part not synthpop, more ambient/experimental/glitchy. This is their first album and was followed up by two re-mix albums and also the equally as good if not better full album Loophole, which I'll upload soon.

I don't think I'll be uploading YMO's studio albums since they're quite popular and easily available, but what is often overlooked is their few live albums, this one is my favorite, this is a recording of their final live show (before their first split) and it was also the same recording as in the YMO film mixed in with bits of concert footage on each song, PROPAGANDA (If you ever get a chance to see it, please do, it's quite rare to find now, on DVD anyway, I think it's all on youtube). This is the band at their very best, the songs sound so much fuller and alive, I also love the changes from their studio versions, the small things, such as added vocals in Rydeen. This was mixed by Brian Eno.

The clip below is not from the PROPAGANDA release, well it is, it's just that the full concert was released on Laserdisc as a stand-alone, therefore free of spoilers.

I love the majority of Takahashi's albums because you know exactly what you're going to get, great (electro)pop. (I can't say the same for his album covers though! They're a mixed bag.) Two amazing songs stick out on here, "My Bright Tomorrow" and "Are you receiving me?" This is labelled as a re-mix, but I think that's a typo, as I can't find an "original" version that exists anywhere. As with most of his albums, this has Haruomi Hosono and Ryuichi Sakamoto guest as studio musicians.

Really nice catchy technopop album from YMO singer/drummer Yukihiro Takahashi, this is his third solo album and it features all members of YMO on keyboards/bass. You can find this online for cheap, since for a Japanese record it was quite popular overseas. But it's under appreciated nevertheless.
